Death of the Fox Brewing Company
About Death of the Fox Brewing Company:
Named after the original Death of the Fox Inn of Clarksboro, New Jersey, a place of friendship and conviviality which operated for nearly three hundred years, Death of the Fox Brewing Company pays homage to the inn through its brewery and coffee house – the only one of its kind in New Jersey. The original Death of the Fox Inn provided drinks and sustenance to members of the Gloucester Fox Hunting Club after their hunts, and holds an important place in colonial and Revolutionary War history. The club flourished from 1766 to 1818, as did the Death of the Fox Inn. During the Revolutionary War, the inn was used as a recruiting center and military headquarters. Some of the more grisly history of the inn is associated with the hanging of a Tory from a walnut tree nearby.
