Volney G. Bennett Lumber Company building is located in Camden, New Jersey. The building was built in 1904, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 5, 1993. The Volney Bennett Lumber Company, founded in 1876, played a great role in the construction, commercial, and industrial development of Camden until 1979, when, after 103 years in Camden, the firm was forced to move to redevelopment and eminent domain. Volney Sr. lived at 310 N 6th Street in Camden and was an officer in a number of Camden Building & Loan Associations. He was the first President of the Camden Board of Trade, owned The Post-Telegram newspaper, and became the mayor of Riverton.
